The FDE market map: companies, verified roles, and specialist search.

About · Methodology · Disclosures

Evidence before inference.

Deming’s List maps the AI deployment market, verifies public FDE-style openings, and builds a specialist recruiting practice with the boundaries visible.

Made by people, with names attached.

Andre Becker Norton runs the research behind Deming’s List and the employer-search work of Deming Search. You can evaluate the person responsible on X and LinkedIn.

The original directory is made by Andre and Ethan, in collaboration with Chris Barber.

Deming’s List is named for W. Edwards Deming. The name reflects an interest in systems, measurement, and inspectable quality; it does not imply an affiliation with Deming’s estate or organizations bearing his name.

One market map, three connected products.

Company directory

A compact map of firms doing meaningful AI deployment or implementation work. It is neither exhaustive nor a ranking.

Verified FDE jobs

A hand-checked set of exact employer postings with direct links, published facts, and visible verification dates.

Deming Search

An early employer-paid recruiting practice for forward-deployed and adjacent AI deployment engineers. Candidates are never charged.

The unit of analysis is the work.

A title is a clue, not proof.

Company screen

  • AI deployment, implementation, integration, or adoption is a meaningful part of the work.
  • A first-party or similarly attributable source can be inspected.
  • The entry can be described without inferring confidential customers, revenue, or endorsement.

Jobs screen

  • The exact role appears on an official employer page or employer-controlled applicant system.
  • Duties include meaningful production engineering and customer deployment ownership.
  • Title, location, compensation, and dates are transcribed as published; unknowns remain unknown.

Three useful labels

Exact FDE uses a forward-deployed title. Equivalent deployment role owns the same core work under another title. Adjacent overlaps materially but has a different ownership boundary. Future company and job profiles will make those distinctions explicit.

A visible source hierarchy.

  1. Exact first-party evidence

Official company pages, employer postings, documentation, repositories, filings, customer material, or attributable engineering work.

  2. Attributable first-person evidence

Named talks, interviews, posts, and work artifacts establish what a person or company says—not automatic independent confirmation.

  3. Independent reporting

Used when it adds corroboration or context the subject cannot provide.

  4. Inference, labeled

Analysis is separated from observed fact. Unknowns, contradictions, dates, and limitations stay visible.

Commercial relationships do not buy coverage.

A directory entry, job listing, citation, or field note is not an endorsement and does not imply a client relationship. A recruiting relationship does not guarantee listing, ranking, favorable treatment, or editorial coverage.

If a covered company becomes a current recruiting client, sponsor, referral partner, or other material commercial counterparty, that relationship will be disclosed on the relevant page. Deming’s List currently has no paid ranking product.

A public professional profile may justify further research. It does not establish availability, interest, consent, compensation, mobility, work authorization, vetting, or representation. No person should be presented to an employer without company-and-role-specific permission.

Small, early, and explicit about it.

Deming Search does not claim completed placements, a proprietary bench, guaranteed speed, client logos, or testimonials that do not yet exist. The site is static, and the current employer and candidate contact path is email.

Guides are practical operating frameworks, not legal advice or validated selection instruments. Employers remain responsible for job analysis, fair and lawful hiring, accessibility, privacy, and counsel appropriate to their jurisdictions.

To report a factual error, email the exact page, disputed claim, and best available primary source.
